In the years of her adolescence, she became increasingly involved in the scientific community and displayed an aptitude for the physical sciences. Surviving an aviation accident altered the course of her ambitions and set her on the path of medicine. With the support of an eminent American scientist, she moved to the United States and was eventually schooled at the Harvard Medical School.
