Coming soon from The Learning Company, a Carmen Sandiego Facebook game:

Thankfully they're using a new developer. The game looks pretty good. Hope I don't have to sacrifice personal information to play it like any of those Zynga games though.

C'est bon, obviously. But we'll have to see where this takes us.  My faith in developers have been tried and tested, repeatedly.

I think I'm going to create a new FB personality just for this game because it looks like it's going to need wall postings and stuff, and I don't want to spam people.

Anyone else playing and want me to add them?

I like how the game handles "time". Since in-game time really has very little to do with real life time, I don't have to worry about the consequences if I don't log in and play for a few days. Winning cases daily can earn extra XP however.

I also like the fact that there is no limit on the amount of cases that can be done. I like having an inventory to store cases for later... since I want to see what happens when I fill the ACME vaults with loot :) There are timers in place to pace the player though.

There are quite a few things I like about this game. The vile henchmen are varied and diverse... finding them is fun. There are short term goals as well as long term goals in this game. They balance out. The long term goal of capturing Carmen Sandiego and putting her behind bars is made more fun than laborious with the smaller cases that must be solved in the meantime.

Of course the promotion system needs a bit of tweaking. There are things I don't like about this game also. But so far I enjoy this game much more than the Zynga games I've tried in the past. I'm glad this game doesn't attempt to follow in Zynga's footsteps... it's more like an updated version of the older games with a social dimension embedded into it.

I don't know, the cases themselves are fun with the varied henchmen, but personally, I think some of the clues they gives are a bit too complex for the average person (Unless you can provide incentive with the coins they give you). Plus, the clues seem a little bland without the wordplay the previous games were famous for.
