Hello everyone. Given that the RP is slowly prodding along, I thought I'd follow in The Great Lady's footsteps and start a guessing game. (go easy on me it's my first attempt at trying one)

Every picture I'm about to show you has to do with a 'famous road' of some sort. Hyuk hyuk.
Your job is to tell me which road the picture has to do with.

The first one is pretty simple.
For 10 points or bragging rights, whichever you find more appealing, which 'famous road' can I find this along?

guess that was TOO easy. I forget that ACME agents do still have some IQ. It might be below 50 but hey it's still better than zero right? hyuk hyuk.

onto the next picture then. Hopefully it'll be more of a challenge. 10 points or bragging rights if you know which road this one is and which country it is in. (sorry  the pic is small.)

Mate, I'll take points, ai? That's the Great Ocean Road, also the name of an ace song by the Gathering.

survey says...we have a winner. Yup that's the great ocean road of Australia, a must-see if one is down-under.

Let's have another easy one shall we?

Once again I apologise for the small picture. Mayhaps I'll swipe a better Camera next tiime?

For 10 points or bragging rights, which 'famous road' is this?

Ja. Good one Gunnar. 10 points to you I guess. Then again, if ACME agents can't identify a street located in the SAME CITY as ACME HQ, then there's really no hope for them.
It is indeed the famous Lombard Street in San Francisco, known for being one of the windiest, downhill roads anywhere in the world. It was also featured in one particular episode of "Where on earth is Carmen Sandiego".

Next up, for 10 points or bragging rights, name this 'famous road'. Here's a hint: It's iconic due to many icons. Hyuk hyuk.

Aye Doc. That be Abbey Road in Liverpool, England. Made famous by a certain group of guys known as The Beatles.

Abbey Road Studios is known for being hsot to many music icons including The Beatles, U2, Cher, and many others.

Doc, since I'm a nice guy I'm gonna give you 10 points despite you not indicating your preference.

Next up, a tricky one. For 10 points or bragging rights, which famous road does this represent?

The picture is intentionally small on this one.

I'll aim for bragging rights.

Pictured is the original 1916 publication of "Mountain Interval" by Robert Frost; and specifically, you're hinting at "The Road Not Taken".  If I recall right, the 1920 version has a green cover.

To complete the answer, here's the poem:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I expected nothing less from a cultured man such as yourself Chase. Brag away all you want.
Indeed this 'famous road' is the 'Road Not Taken' by Robert Frost.
A wonderful poem if I do say so myself.

Let's move on with a tricky one.
For bragging rights or 10 points, this picture below shows an interesting sight along a 'famous road'.
Which road is it? For 10 bonus points or even more bragging rights, name the sight the picture shows.

I've never done this before, so I hope I have this correct.  For bragging rights, I'm guessing that is a picture of the silk road?

Not bad Nicole. To be precise, that is a picture of the Bezekliik Grottoes in the flaming mountains near Turfan. They are one of the sights you can see along the Silk Road.

(Since you are new, I'll give you a tip. Us VILE agents don't need the points but you ACME agents do. So anyway I'll be nice and give you 10 points anyway as an "Agent Warming" gift. No freebies next time though.)

And finally, we end with this world famous road. For 10 points or bragging rights, can anyone tell me what it is?

Also for 10 bonus points, can anyone tell me where the title of this guessing game comes from?

Sorry to post twice in row (hope that's not against the rules), but for points I think you got the name from Bugs Bunny!  Haha!

I'll take a guess for ten points and say that the road is Avenido Nuevo de Julio (July 9th Avenue) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Niki, you're definitely smarter than Daffy. Yup, the title of the quiz is an old gag used in the Looney Tunes cartoons by Bugs Bunny. He was always making a wrong turn at Alberquerque. Usually is was the left turn he missed though sometimes it was the right turn. Go figure. 10 points to you Niki. (and no there is no limit on how much you want to answer. Don't worry so much.)

Wild Bill, nice try. Wrong continent, wrong hemisphere.

Don't worry. Wrong answers are not penalized in this quiz.

Please try again.

(That picture is sickly small, Joe Tongue out) I shall guess that it is Pennsylvania Avenue, in Washington, D.C.
For points, if I have guessed correctly.

(You're right the picture is a little small but if it was bigger it'd be too easy)

Nice try Gunnar. Wrong continent. Try sailing across the Atlantic. Wink
