Well then let me be the first to officially welcome you to the site (even though we've already met in chat).  Feel free to ask around if anything throws you for a loop.  Otherwise, jump right in.

I'd like to welcome you too, though I'm not so sure if I am permitted to at my level. I do a lot of things off-record.

As for something throwing you for a loop, that sounds very unlikely. I don't know how you could be mistaken for one.
