This is really exciting! IF they do it right, it should be great!
So many awesome questions are filling my mind at the moment like, who is gonna play Carmen? who is going to play the chief? etc.
They've cast J-Lo as Carmen. I never really saw her as that? I was thinking more Angelina Jolie.
I was thinking Sandra Bulock or some unknown actress to play the roll. I rather have it in the hands of an unknown.

From what I have heard, J.Lo is on hand to produce for now. Who knows what else will go on.

If the movie is made for a younger audience, would it not be better if the actress was a good role-model for children?
Carmen is supposed to be sophiscated, cunning, and an enigma. I have a hard time imagine J-Lo portraying that. That's just me though. I agree with what some people have said Angelina Jolie seems a better fit.

The BEST fit would be Catherine Zeta-Jones, but I think J-Lo would be a good choice. She's played serious characters before. Best example for me would be when she played the bounty hunter in the movie with George Clooney.

I always thought her best movie was Anaconda...and I was rooting for the snake 
Actually I think Joanne Kelly (Myka Behring from Warehouse 13) could play Carmen.
I wonder if they'll go with the Carmen Universe from the cartoon or the game show? I personally would rather see Zack and Ivy portrayed. Chase would be kinda...boring 
I also wonder how the heists would be portrayed. That's the fun part.
Any VILE thieves other than Carmen that you lot want to see portrayed?
I am kinda hoping to see Patty Larceny (Dakota Fanning maybe).

If this is was J-Lo's 'Selena' years, then I would had the part of Carmen Sandiego off to her and pray she would do a fantastic job.
However, since Joanne Kelly's name been mentioned I would definitely give her the role now over J-Lo. My reason for that judgement call is simple - an establish like J-Lo can easily make or break that part with her commercial appeal. Plus, while J-Lo is a beautiful woman, she doesn't have 'nerd' appeal and nerds (like myself) will be a strong majority seeing this movie.
Overall, it would be best for the movie if they can go with an unknown or a lesser known actress for the role. Carmen is just too much of a beloved character to give to any actress.
Jennifer Lopez as Carmen Sandiego. Goodness, Hollywood does want to screw up everything, doesn't it?
Off the bat fantasy casting? Camilla Belle.
It's a bit hard to decide which other characters I want to see on screen. Carmen Sandiego has always been an independent character, capable of holding her own on her own.
