[The audience cheers and applauds]
Chief: All these people want to know...!
Rockapella: Where in the World is... Carmen Sandiego?
[They do the intro; now, to the Gumshoes]
Chief: And one of these Gumshoes could find her!
George: He's lived in Virginia, and he plays softball and soccer. From Binghamton, New York, meet Jamal Donovan!
Jeff: He has a collection of jump drives and is a computer whiz at home. From New York City, meet Arnold Bernard "A.B." Reese!
Scott: Our returning Sleuth, after one case, has won cash and prizes totaling: $4,600. From Buffalo, New York, meet Craig Parker!
[Now, to the alley; Greg enters and greets Rockapella]
Chief: And here's our captain in charge of training new recruits, Greg Lee!
[Greg enters HQ; cheers and applause]
Greg: Hi, there! Startin' off a whole new week!
[He greets the Gumshoes]
Greg: Hi, you guys. Nice to see you. Jamal, A.B., Craig. Hey, folks, say hi to my buddies.
Rockapella: Rockapella!
[Applause]
Greg: Now, Digipella was supposed to be here today. They weren't with us all last week, because they had a little vacation to get to. But they said they'd make it here today.
Kari's voice: Ready?!
Girls of Digipella: OKAY!
[The girls of Digipella, in their Crime Net Cougars cheerleading outfits, tumble into HQ; Tai, Matt, T.K., Joe, and Izzy enter, all in Cougars jerseys]
[Cheers and applause]
Greg: Whattaya know?!
Tai: Hey, Greg! Sorry we're late. The girls had a little delay in rehearsal.
Greg: It's all right. That was one heck of an entrance.
Kari: Thanks, Greg.
Greg: What's with the entrance, anyway, and why are you all in that football getup?
T.K.: Because, Captain, at stake all this week are tickets to the Super Bowl.
Greg: Wait. What?
Matt: The winning Gumshoe, as you know, will have a shot at catching Carmen Sandiego for a trip to anywhere in North America, as well as the jackpot.
Greg: Which, today, is at $40,000.
Tai: But if they catch Carmen, they also win tickets to the Super Bowl!
[Cheers and applause]
Greg: You hear that, Gumshoes?! All this week, Super Bowl tickets are at stake for catching Carmen Sandiego!
[The Gumshoes are amazed]
Greg: Thanks a lot, Digipella. Back to the alley.
[Digipella exits HQ]
Greg: Digipella, everybody!
[Applause]
Greg: All right, Chief. Who we after today?
[Now, to the Chief]
Chief: Gumshoes, this is Robo-Crook.

Rockapella: [robotic sounds] Robo-Crook! [robotic sounds] Robo-Crook!
Chief: A Terminator wannabe with wires on his shorts and a short in his wiring.
His last-known whereabouts: Washington, D.C., home to the Smithsonian Institution.
The Smithsonian museums are the most widely visible part of the United States' Smithsonian Institution and consist of nineteen museums and galleries as well as the National Zoological Park. Joseph Henry has served as the first Secretary of the Smithsonian.
Chief: He also served as a founding member of the National Institute for the Promotion of Science, a precursor of the Smithsonian. You can see a statue of him before the Smithsonian Institution. Or at least you could, until today!
Digipella: Crime!
Chief: Robo-Crook neared our nation's capital, strung up Henry's statue, and rocketed away with it! Gumshoes, it's up to you to save the statue by solving today's caper...!
Rockapella: Whoo-WHOO!!
Chief: The Statue Steal II: The Smithsonian Snatch!
[Applause]
[Back to HQ]
Greg: Thank you, Chief. Okay, Gumshoes. Here's how it works. We're gonna start you each off with 100 ACME Crime Bucks. Each time you answer a question correctly, we'll add 20 Crime Bucks to your score. If all 3 of you answer correctly, we'll give you each an extra 20 Crime Bucks. And the two of you with the highest scores at the end of the round will advance to the next round. Now, before we go too far into this, let's get to know you all better. First, you all remember our returning Sleuth, Craig. Let's meet the newbies. Jamal, it says here you play soccer for your school?
Jamal: Yes, I do. I'm actually a goalie.
Greg: And how many games have you won last year?
Jamal: 5 games.
Greg: Awesome. Next, we have A.B. You're a computer whiz, aren't you?
A.B.: Yeah. I'm one of the best in the class. I'm also the best at home. And I even brought part of my jump drive collection. Check it out.
[He shows a keychain holding 4 different USB jump drives]
Greg: That's awesome, man. Okay, Gumshoes. Best of luck. Chief, let's get started.
[Now, to the Chief]
Chief: Here's what we know so far, Gumshoes. Robo was last seen at the Palazzo Strozzi, a palace in the most populous city in Tuscany. From 1865 to 1870, the city was also the capital of the recently established Kingdom of Italy. Now, Palazzo Strozzi is an example of civil architecture with its rusticated stone, inspired by Palazzo Medici, but with more harmonious proportions. Greg?
[Back to HQ]
Greg: Okay, Gumshoes. Name the city. Is it Genoa, Florence, or Naples? Remember the clues that we heard: Palazzo Strozzi, capital of the Kingdom of Italy from 1865 to 1870, and most populous city in Tuscany. Lock in those answers.
[The Gumshoes lock in their answers]
Greg: Everyone's locked in. What'd you say, Jamal?
Jamal: Genoa.
Greg: Genoa. A.B.?
A.B.: Genoa.
Greg: Genoa. Craig?
Craig: I also chose Genoa.
Greg: Everybody says Genoa, everybody is wrong.
[BUZZER!]
[The audience groans]
Greg: Tough one. The answer was Florence. But don't blame me, for all of our answers have been verified by National Geographic World.
Rockapella: National Geographic World!
Greg: Thank you. Now, for our--
[Chatter is heard coming from the alley]
Greg: Looks like my singers await. Be right back. Gonna check the Word on the Street.
[He enters the alley, where the singers await]
Greg: Hey, you guys. What's the Word on the Street?
Scott: Greg, the Word on the Street is "Bartholdi".
Greg: Hey, I've heard of him. Frederic Auguste Bartholdi. He made the Statue of Liberty.
Scott: Exactly.
Joe: Now, Bartholdi was born in a commune in the Haut-Rhin department in Alsace in north-eastern France.
Barry: It's situated along the Alsatian Wine Route and considers itself to be the "Capital of Alsatian Wine".
T.K.: [has something underneath a cloth] And speakin' of sculptures, Captain, check this out. I made it in sculpting class.
[He removes the cloth, revealing a sculpture of Greg (head only; the rest is just a beanbag)]
[Laughter!]
T.K.: Like it?
Greg: That doesn't look like me, except for the head.
T.K.: I sculpted it myself, except the body that's just a beanbag. I ran outta clay for this one.
[He reveals a sculpture of Kari dancing]
Kari: He asked me to pose for his sculpture. He knows how much I love dancing.
Greg: Now, that is a masterpiece! Nice pose, Kari. T.K., you've got some art skill. See ya later, guys.
[He returns to HQ]
Greg: Okay, Gumshoes. Name the commune. Is it Carspach, Bartenheim, or Colmar? Remember the clues that we heard: Frederic Auguste Bartholdi's home, Haut-Rhin department in Alsace in north-eastern France, and situated along the Alsatian Wine Route.
[The Gumshoes lock in their answers]
Greg: What'd you say, Jamal?
Jamal: Bartenheim.
Greg: Bartenheim. A.B.?
A.B.: Bartenheim.
Greg: Bartenheim. Craig?
Craig: Carspach.
Greg: Carspach. The answer we're looking for is Colmar, unfortunately.
[BUZZER!]
[The audience groans]
Greg: Nobody goes anywhere on that one. Everyone's still tied with 100. Now, we've heard that Robo's left Colmar and is headed for New York Harbor.
[Lightning flashes]
Greg: Okay, fellas. It's time for the Lightning Round. I have 4 questions here, all relating to the New York Harbor. Each correct answer is worth 10 Crime Bucks. The one of you that answers all 4 questions correctly wins our Lightning Lot. Let's see what we've got today.
[Sora and Mimi, both in swimsuit, model...]
Tai: First, we have this new catamaran. It's the Aqua Cat 12.5. Small and easy to handle, this 12-foot catamaran seats four people comfortably and can be sailed single-handedly or with a crew. From Aqua Cat. Retail value: $3,795.
Kari: And we've added this prize to the Lot.

[Applause]
[Tai dips Kari]
[Cheers and applause]
Greg: The Kamiyas sure got the moves. By the way, about the catamaran...
Gumshoes: We know.
Greg: Boy. They really do watch this show every day. Okay. Here's the first question: A visual question.
Greg: Identify this sea port. Red Hook, Port Jersey, or Port Newark?
[Nobody rings in]
[BUZZER!!]
Greg: There goes another Lightning Lot. It was Port Newark. Toughie. Next question: The Statue of Liberty, part of the harbor, was featured in an animated film about a little mouse from Russia searching for his family in America. Is the film--
[Craig rings in]
Greg: Craig.
Craig: The Rescuers.
[BUZZER!]
Greg: Nope. A.B. and Jamal, here are the choices: Is the film An American Tail, Mouse Hunt, or The Rescuers Down Under?
[A.B. rings in]
Greg: A.B.
A.B.: Mouse Hunt.
[BUZZER!]
Greg: Nope. Not even animated.
[Jamal rings in]
Greg: Jamal.
Jamal: The Rescuers Down Under?
[BUZZER!!]
Greg: No. The answer was An American Tail.
Jamal: I've never seen that movie.
A.B.: Nor have I.
Craig: Heard of it, but I never knew the mouse was from Russia.
Greg: Wait'll Fievel gets wind of this.
[Laughter!]
Greg: Next question: New York Harbor refers to the waterways of the estuary near the mouth of what river?
[Jamal rings in again]
Greg: Jamal.
Jamal: Hudson River.
[Bells sound out]
[Applause]
Greg: Finally, we have someone on the board! Nice job, Jamal. Takes you to 110. Last question: Another visual question.
Greg: What you see here is an oil painting of New York Harbor. It was painted by what painter? Thomas Cole, George McCord, or Asher Brown Durand?
[Craig rings in again]
Greg: Craig.
Craig: McCord.
[Bells sound out]
[Applause]
Greg: That gets you on the board, Craig. At the end of the Lightning Round, Jamal has 110, A.B. still has 100, and Craig has 110, as well. Nice job, fellas.
Chief: Greg, in my office, immediately!
Greg: Right away, Chief. I'll be right there. I'll be with you Gumshoes in just a moment. She really can't solve so much without yours truly, the captain of ACME Crime Net.
[He enters the Chief's office]
Greg: What's up, Chief?
Chief: Greg, what's happening with Carmen?
Greg: Well, it's like this, Chief. We're staying on her trail, and although she thinks she's being really clever, she's gonna slip up, and once she does, we'll get her in the end.
Chief: That's what I like to hear! Now, Carmen may think she's built a fortress, but we here at ACME Crime Net know, she's only built a house of cards.
Greg: Uh, Chief, I've heard people use that expression from time to time, and I be honest with you. I don't really know what it means. What does it mean: House of cards?
Chief: I'll show you. [extracts a deck of cards] Here we have a deck of cards.
[She hands the deck to Greg]
Chief: Now, build a house with them.
Greg: All right. I'll build a house with the cards.
[He proceeds]
Chief: [to the home audience] Meanwhile, you folks at home remember that each time you watch the show, write down what got stolen and from where. When you've collected 5 Loots and locations, write them down on a postcard with your name and address, and send it to...

Chief: I must say, Greg, that's impressive.
Greg: Thanks a lot.
Chief: Now, the point, Greg.
Greg: Yep?
Chief: It's a complex structure, but it can be easily destroyed. Now, you're gonna hate me for this, but I'll just blow on it and...
[She takes a deep breath and blows on the house of cards, but nothing happens]
Greg: Okay. It's a house in a windy area.
[The Chief blows on the card house again, but it still does not fall]
Greg: Chicago! It's a house in Chicago! The Windy City!
Chief: Greg?
Greg: Yeah?
Chief: Go away.
Greg: Yes, ma'am.
[He exits the office]
Chief: "House in Chicago". Hmph.
[The house suddenly falls to pieces]
[The Chief shrugs]
