| Character Background: | There are two sides to everyone and with Allison it is no different... a senior in art school, Allison doubles as a local video terrorist hijacking television signals and pirating broadcasts... After months of broadcasting, "Where are you Carmen?" one night, much to her surprise, she received a text message from a blocked number that simply read, "We know who you are and who you are looking for. When you are ready to find the answer, we'll find you. Tread lightly friend, we are not to be messed with!" Excited at the possibility of meeting who some had called an urban legend, for a week Allison transmitted, "some may call you vile, but i think you're neat." Two days after her final broadcast to VILE, she received a cryptic message. Again, the number was blocked. "A former President in the land of Eden." Was it really Carmen? And so close to where she lived? The clue was right there and anyone from Kansas City could decipher it! "A former President in the land of Eden." John Smith had once claimed that the garden of Eden was in missouri, in the same town where Truman was born. Jumping into her convertible, Allison drove to see Truman's house, unsure of what she would find. After taking the tour of the old President's home, she began wondering if she had mistaken the clues to mean something else... but where was Eden then? As she slumped into the driver's seat of her car, she felt a soft vibration coming from her pocket; she had received another clue! "I heard about a place where a girl could hear Glenn Miller, but they could have at least painted it blue!" Annoyed that she had just come from that direction, Allison drove to the jazz district of Kansas City. As she approached the doors of The Blue Room, she was grabbed and thrown against the side of the building. "Just who do you think you are?!" barked the tall dark-haired man. "i'm just trying to listen to some music, sir," she tried to reply as she noticed the garish ACME badge. How stupid of her, she thought to herself. Of course it wasn't Carmen sending the clues. Why would Carmen have taken such and interest in her? It was all a trap. Unsatisfied, the ACME agent released her and replied, "fine, but we won't always welcome you with such open arms. If you change your mind; here." Holding out a business card with only a number on it, he turned and walked down the alley. Breathing a sigh of relief and realizing that it had in fact been Carmen sending her the messages all along, Allison turned to walk into the Jazz museum. As she turned the doorknob her phone started ringing. Unknown Caller. It was her! "Seems you're too late, dearie. I saw everything. You can tell your partner and the Chief I say 'hi.' But for now, I'm afraid I really must be going." Allison stood there, stunned. It was over. Carmen was gone having left no clues to find her. She reached into her pocket to grab a cigarette and fingered the corners of the business card. One way or another, she would find Carmen. She would see her face and know the woman was not that of an urban myth, but real. Allison began punching in the phone number to ACME as she thought to herself, "one way or another..." |
